DUT 2012 Fashion Show- My Fav

This was my absolute favourite.
Julia Cronje’s Durban University of Technology Btech range took my breath away. A great combination of cinched in waists, drapery, stripes which was completed with the beautiful use of chiffon and silk satin. The combination of styling and colour worked so well together.
It was clean, crisp, with a great air of simplicity. The kind of range that you could picture yourself wearing on holiday away and would guarantee you looking exquisite everyday with absolutely no fuss.

Eastern Cape: The Traditional Wedding

What I love most about traditional weddings is the attire. The exuberant colours and texture combinations with extensive bead work, prints and stitch detail when it comes to Xhosa traditional clothing is astounding. It’s so beautiful how it all comes together

Eastern Cape: The White Wedding

On our way to Queenstown (Eastern Cape) Athi had been itching to see how the reception area was looking. We arrived, unpacked our bags, spent time with family and ran some errands. Finally we all went to go see it. It was worth the wait.

It looked beautiful.

The reception area was a white backdrop complimented with hints of pink, silver and cream which were tied together by the OHH SOOO gorgeous roses (which I was soooo obsessed with).

The drapery, fairy lights, Chinese balls and roses looked magical.

The Year End Party

The theme was James Bond or 007 as some say. Many dressed the part and there was a lot of gambling involved to follow onto the theme (not for money) but none the less my competitive side came out in full force. My favorite was Black Jack because I at least knew what was going in.

A few of us then moved to my favorite place where I was able to take a few more pictures.

This when we moved to the Chairman and this is where we spent the rest of the night.

Maxwell

It was a night to remember. Maxwell's sultry voice and moves had the girls and some of the boys swooning.

The Chairman- Athi's Birthday Celebration

Last week Friday we celebrated Athi’s Birthday at this little  gem on Point Road (now known as Mahatma Ghandi) called The Chairman, with no sign on the front door,  situated next to a dilapidated building, you would not imagine that inside lied such a treasure.  It’s exactly what Durban needed, a place with an amazing atmosphere and bursting with creativity. It’s rustic and eclectic feel combined with pieces that the ordinary mind would not put together work so well.I was  blown away at every turn.

Love how parts of the restaurant have not been completely remolded but kept as is and  interesting light fixtures, vintage pieces have been implemented creating such character.

To top it all off, live music in the background and the birthday girl having a fabulous time.
